What is HACCP?
The acronym HACCP means Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (Food Safety) System. It is a system for monitoring the food service process to reduce the risk of foodborne illness. HACCP focuses on how food flows through the food service process - from purchasing through serving.

What types of training courses are being offered?
There are two training programs offered, one in HACCP Certificate program and another is Certified HACCP Auditor Program.

Why should I enroll in the HACCP Certificate Program?
This certificate is designed to provide a thorough understanding of food safety and HACCP for people with limited food science or industry experience. It will be of interest to those wishing to upgrade their food safety knowledge and will benefit those with new job responsibilities, new positions or those looking to change careers.

Are there any prerequisites required for taking the Certificate Program?
To complete this program, you don
need a degree but familiarity with food processing technology such as bacteria, pH, sanitizers, etc., is helpful. A glossary is provided to help you become familiar with common food safety and HACCP terms, as well as a list of additional resources about food safety, food hazards and more.

Why should I enroll in the Certified HACCP Auditor Program?
This program is designed for those who have had on-the-job experience in HACCP and want to a HACCP Auditor. One major objective of this program is to prepare the students to pass the Certified HACCP Auditor and get certified by America Society for Quality as a CHA, so this course cover each and every topic of the Body of Knowledge of CHA.

Will I get a certificate after I take the HACCP programs?
Yes, you will get a certificate from Ontario College of Technology after completing the program

Where can I take the courses?
You can take the HACCP course at Ontario College of Technology. Our instructor has a Ph.D. in food science and over twenty years of industrial experiences. We also invite guest speakers from the industry.

When can I start?
We are running the HACCP and CHA courses on continous bases, Please call the admission office to arrange a start time for you.
